Vancouver

Michael and I have made it to Vancouver, British Columbia.  The actual travel went very smoothly.  We were both rather stressed out from all the activities of the past few days so at 9:00 pm Pacific Time we are fighting the urge to fall asleep.  We were pleasently surprised when we got to our hotel, the Terminal City Tower Club, one block from the cruise terminal.

Our room had been upgraded to a lovely suite at no extra charge.  We have a kitchenette, living room, dining area and desk in the main area.  There is also a separate bedroom with an enormous bathroom.  We are on the top floor with wonderful views of the city.

We've taken an initial walk to the Gastown area where we saw the famous (at least locally) steam clock blow its whistle at four o'clock.  After a really good dinner at  local sea food eatery, we walked about half a mile along the harbor before returning to the hotel.

About the stressful week: the hills west of Boulder have been on fire with Colorado's most destructive wildfire ever.  Almost 170 homes have been destroyed and another 40 damaged.  We know a number of people who have lost  everything.  It's very sad.  Michael has a radio link in the garage that aids the local ham radio club with communications.  We have been listening to the radio traffic as the hams assist the police and fire departments providing remote TV and data links.  They are all doing wonderful work.  At the same time, I got an offer for my Tennessee mobile home Tuesday and managed to get everything done by phone, e-mail and fax for a closing this morning (Friday.)  We both definitely need a vacation.

Note the picture of Michael with a a Royal Canadian Moose.
